Program Description

The National Security and Business, Certificate of Proficiency provides an interdisciplinary platform that prepares students and existing professionals to advance in public and private sector national security and business careers through acquisition of subject matter expertise and national security and business analytical skills. This certificate equips students with knowledge and skills to gather, analyze and evaluate information to enable informed decision-making and strategic planning to address complex challenges and achieve desired outcomes. Students apply business and national security concepts to address real-world problems with relevant datasets and directed class projects.

Program Requirements

Business majors should select from the NSS courses and NSS majors should select from the Business courses. Other majors should meet with their academic advisors for direction.

Graduation Requirements 

1. Completion of a minimum of 24 credit hours. 

2. Residency hours--minimum of 6 credit hours through course attendance at UVU.

2. Gather, analyze, and interpret information to identify potential threats, assess their likelihood and impact, and develop strategies to prevent or mitigate harm.
3. Guide operational activities using strategic plans and informed decisions based on real-time intelligence and analytical insights.
4. Analyze operational data to improve efficiency and identify areas for improvement.
