Program Description
The Business Technologies and Education, B.S. degree prepares graduates to meet the educational requirements for a secondary teaching license in Utah or for roles in corporate training and technology. This program is designed to equip students with the skills to teach business, finance, marketing, and information technology in both secondary schools and business/industry environments. Students select either the Business Education domain, which focuses on teaching in secondary education, or the Corporate Training and Technology domain, which prepares students to teach in a business/industry setting. Graduates will be prepared to effectively communicate and instruct in their chosen domain, ensuring a strong foundation in both pedagogy and subject matter expertise.
Matriculation Requirements
- ENGL and MATH QL courses must have a grade C or higher.
- GPA of 2.7 or higher with no grade lower than a C in content area courses.
- Completion of all General Education requirements and 70% of content area courses.
- Pass LiveScan Criminal Background Check for the Business Education domain; not required for the Corporate Training domain.

Graduation Requirements
- Completion of 120 semester credit hours with at least 40 credit hours in upper-division courses.
- Overall Grade of 2.75 (B-) or above with no grade lower than a C. In Methods of Teaching, EDSC or EDSP courses no grade lower than a B-.
- Residency hours: Minimum of 30 credit hours through course attendance at UVU, with at least 10 hours earned in the last 45 hours.
- Completion of GE and specified departmental requirements. Students are responsible for completing all prerequisite courses.
- Successful completion of at least one Global/Intercultural course.
- Successful completion of at least two Writing Enriched (WE) courses.
