English Education, B.S.

The English Education degree gives students crucial insights into teaching English in grades 6-12 in Utah public and private schools. Students build on a foundation of rigorous theory and practice to develop pedagogical skills and subject area expertise for effective teaching of English. In addition to a range of literature and writing courses, students complete methods courses that focus on specific strategies to teach the four Utah State Core strands: reading, writing, speaking/listening, and language. Additional training for students in the English Education degree program includes topics such as educational psychology, multicultural instruction, effective classroom management, and curriculum development and assessment.
