Psychology, B.S.
The BS in Psychology is designed for students who desire a full bachelor’s degree in psychology. The degree will prepare students for careers and further education in Utah, the Mountain West, and nationwide by (a) creating a curriculum built around the five pillars of psychology described by the American Psychological Association (APA); (b) emphasizing skills desired by employers (e.g., written communication, critical thinking, working in teams); and (c) providing engaged learning experiences (e.g., service-learning, internship, capstone) about current psychological topics.

Graduation requires a minimum of two Writing Enriched courses. One must be taken from Psychology Foundations or the Advanced Psychology Requirement.

Students must complete a minimum of 40 upper-division credits for graduation. Depending on courses completed for Psychology Foundations and Individual Differences, students may need to select additional upper-division electives.
Graduation Requirements
- Completion of a minimum of 120 credits, 40 of which must be 3000 level or higher.
- Minimum overall UVU GPA of 2.0 upon graduation.
- Minimum 2.5 program GPA upon graduation.
- Residency hours--minimum of 30 credit hours through course attendance at UVU, with at least 10 hours earned in the last 45 hours.
- All major course work taken to meet Psychology requirements must be completed with a grade of C- or better.
- Successful completion of at least one Global/Intercultural course.

Program Learning Outcomes
- Critically analyze quantitative data in order to draw empirically supported conclusions about human behaviors.
- Write in a professional manner, defined as a mastery of the mechanics of basic writing, the conventions of professional writing (e.g., conforming to a publication style), and the ability to produce a coherent argument.
- Interpret, design, and evaluate psychological research.
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of the impact of societal inequality and oppression on psychological processes.
