Program Description
The Elementary Education Bachelor of Science program prepares quality candidates to teach grades K–8 by combining foundational coursework with professional licensure preparation. This program emphasizes developing strong pedagogical skills, subject matter knowledge, and dispositions essential for effective elementary education. Students engage in coursework, fieldwork, and student teaching experiences designed to build competence and professionalism. Graduates who complete all program and licensure requirements are recommended for the Utah Professional Educator License.
Matriculation Requirements
Admissions Requirements:
1. Reading and Writing--Complete ENGL 2010 with a B- or higher
2. Mathematics--Complete MATH 1050, 1055, or 2000 with a C or higher
3. GPA of 2.7 or higher
4. General Education coursework completed
5. Completion of Pre-Professional Core Requirements with a B- or higher (Math courses C or higher)
6. Pass LiveScan Criminal Background Check

Students must complete all Pre-Professional and General Education courses with an overall GPA of 2.7 before they are formally admitted into the Teacher Preparation Program.

Graduation Requirements
- Completion of a minimum of 120 semester credits.
- Overall grade point average of 3.0 or above.
- Residency hours -- minimum of 30 credit hours through course attendance at UVU, with at least 10 hours earned in the last 45 hours.
- Completion of GE and specified departmental requirements.
- Successful completion of at least one Global/Intercultural course.
- Successful completion of at least two Writing Enriched courses.
